How wide should a slatted wall be?
Tie the width to something in the room. Match the bed or bench exactly, as with the black headboard and the terracotta hallway, or stop between two fixed points such as bedside lamps. Avoid ending just past the furniture, which looks like a measuring mistake.
Should slats go all the way to the ceiling?
Ceiling-high slats make a room feel taller and look the most built-in. Take them down to the skirting as well, behind the bed, sofa or bench, just as real panels would be fitted. A floating rectangle in the middle of the wall rarely looks right.
Which frame colour works on which slats?
Look for a clear step in tone. White frames lift smoked oak and walnut, black frames sharpen light oak, and oak or gold frames glow against black slats. On open battens, choose a frame that suits the wall colour between them.
What is the difference between slats on felt and open battens?
Acoustic slat panels have the slats fixed to a felt backing, so they arrive as ready panels and soften echo. Open battens are separate strips fixed straight to the wall, so your paint colour shows between them. They are cheaper but take longer to set out.
Can I hang frames on acoustic slat panels?
Yes. Screw into the solid slats, not the felt, and use screws long enough to reach the wall for heavier frames. Plan the frame positions before you fit the panels, so you know where to add a hidden batten or plug behind them.
How do I try a slatted wall on my own room?
Open any design and replace the photo with a straight-on picture of your wall. Calibrate it with one known measurement, then drag the panel edges. Whole slats are added or removed as you go, and the inspector shows how many you need.
